On Saturday, August 20th, we meet at the San Sebastian Trailhead on Route 436 in Altamonte Springs. We have a very special session planned, courtesy of Jeremy and Diane from Fitness Partners.

Fitness Partners will be conducting a session on cross training. The seminar will start at 7:45am. Please be back at the trailhead by 7:40! Please bring a towel or a mat to lay on.

The full marathon group will be doing a total of 6 miles. You will do 4 miles before the seminar and 2 miles during the seminar.

The half marathon group will be doing a total of 5 miles. You will do 3 miles before the seminar and 2 miles during the seminar.

Please be sure to sign in and out on the clip board that corresponds to the pace group you will be running with.

Parking is limited at the trailhead. If there is no parking available, it is best to park behind the Colliers Furniture Store. That will get you very close to the trailhead: Collier’s Furniture Expo, 733 West SR 436, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714

To reach the San Sebastian trailhead, take I-4 to Exit 92 and drive west about 1.5 miles on Route 436/Semoran Boulevard. The well-marked trailhead is on the north side of the boulevard.

Opening Day #2: Saturday, July 23rd, come join us!

On Saturday, July 23rd we once again meet at 8am at Cranes Roost at the amphitheater. We will do a quick orientation followed by 1-3 miles around Cranes Roost to find your pace. Don’t forget to stretch! The coaches will take us through some basic stretching and core exercises. Then we will have a mandatory seminar on hydration and warm (hot!) weather running.

A post-run breakfast will take place at Panera’s on Route 436, across from the hospital (696 E Altamonte Dr., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701)

Are you ready for a great race weekend? Here are a few reminders to make the experience the best ever!

A. The morning of the race. Please wear your USA FIT Orlando t-shirt, weather permitting (think layers if it is on the chilly side, although the weather looks perfect right now). The races start at 7am. We will meet for a team photo at 6:20am in front of the Market Street Café on the corner on Market Street and Front Street. This is very close to the start. Here is a link so you can find the restaurant: http://www.market-street-cafe.com/.  This is what we have been training for. You are SO READY.

After the race, let’s meet at the finish line to cheer in our team members! We can decide if we want to grab coffee once everyone has crossed the finish line.

B. Carb Loading. USA Fit Orlando will be getting together for some fun carb loading the Saturday night before the Celebration Marathon and Half Marathon. There will be two dinners. One for those staying the night down in the Celebration area, and another for those of us that are sleeping in our own beds. Even if you are not running the marathon, please consider joining the group for dinner and supporting your fellow members! Family and friends are always welcome.

Saturday, January 2: Long Run!

On Saturday, January 2nd we meet at the Panera’s on Lake Mary Blvd. The GPS address is:1210 S International Parkway, Lake Mary, FL 32746.  http://bit.ly/1d2HbQx(link to map)

The Disney full marathon group is doing 8 miles and the Disney half marathon group is doing 6 miles.

The Celebration full marathon group is doing 21 miles and the Celebration half group is doing 12 miles.

Routes:

Note: All groups will head south on the trail.

21 miles: Head south on the trail to the entrance of the tunnel–that’s 5 miles. Turn around and run back to Panera’s–that’s 10 miles. Continue north of Panera’s to Lake Markham Preserve Trail, just past the soccer fields. That’s another 5.5 miles. Turn around and run back to Panera’s to complete your 21 miles!! (make sure you see Julie after completing your run)

12 miles: Head south on the trail to the entrance of the tunnel–that’s 5 miles. Turn around and run back to Panera’s–that’s 10 miles. Continue north of Panera’s 1 mile (to AAA Blvd.). Turn around and run back to Panera’s to complete your 12 miles!

8 miles: Run south 4 miles to The Church on the Living Edge. Turn around and head back to Panera’s to complete your 8 miles!

6 miles: Run south 3 miles to .15 miles past where the trail intersects with Dixon Road. Turn around and head back to Panera’s to complete your 9 miles!

There will be a water jug at Dixon Road, Coach Robb energy fuel at Panera”s. An another water jug at Lake Markham Preserve Trail.

No seminar today. Breakfast at Panera’s is always a good option for refueling!

The Disney full marathon group is doing 12 miles and the Disney half marathon group is doing 8 miles.

The Celebration full marathon group is doing 9 miles and the Celebration half group is doing 10 miles.

Routes:
We are back to doing hills! All groups will head south on the trail to Long Pond Road–that’s 1.3 miles. Make a left on Long Pond Road and proceed up the gentle hill to the end, and then back again 3 times. That is approximately 3 miles. So now you have done 4.3 miles. Continue south on the trail the following distances before you turn around and run back to Panera’s:

Disney Full Marathon: after 3 hill repeats on Long Pond Road, continue south on the trail 3.2 miles. The turnaround is at the Neighborhood Alliance Church.

Disney Half Marathon: after 3 hill repeats on Long Pond Road, continue south on the trail 1.2 miles to the turnaround just beyond where the trail intersects with Sunwood Drive.

Celebration Full Marathon: after 3 hill repeats on Long Pond Road, continue south on the trail 1.7 miles to the turnaround .2 mile past where the trail intersects with Dixon Road..

Celebration Half Marathon: after 3 hill repeats on Long Pond Road, continue south on the trail 2.2 miles to the turnaround just beyond where the trail intersects with EE Williamson.

The Coach Robb Energy Fuel jug and a small water jug will be at the intersection of the trail and Long Pond Road.

Please note: This week is the first week that the schedules for the Disney and Celebration training diverge.

Disney:

  • Those training for the Disney Full Marathon will run 21 miles (longest of the training!) and then start tapering.
  • If you are running the Disney Half Marathon, this past weekend you should have completed 13 miles, so you will begin your taper with 10 miles on December 12th.

 

Celebration:

  • If you are training for the Celebration Full Marathon, you will be running 12 miles on Saturday.
  • Celebration Half Marathon trainees are going 7 miles. Here are the routes:

  • Celebration Half marathoners should turn around at 3.5 miles (Just past where the trail intersects with Ee Williamson Road. Run past the Sommerville Kids Klub. Run back to Panera’s–that’s 7 miles.
  • Disney Half marathoners should run to the entrance of the tunnel–that’s 5 miles. Turn around and run back to Panera’s–that’s 10 miles.
  • Celebration Full marathoners head south on the trail to the entrance of the tunnel–that’s 5 miles. Turn around and run back to Panera’s–that’s 10 miles. Continue north of Panera’s 1 mile (AAA building). Turn around and run back to Panera’s to complete your 12 miles.
  • Disney Full marathoners head south on the trail to the entrance of the tunnel–that’s 5 miles. Turn around and run back to Panera’s–that’s 10 miles. Continue north of Panera’s to Lake Markham Preserve Trail, just past the soccer fields. That’s another 5.5 miles. Turn around and run back to Panera’s to complete your 21 miles!!

Saturday, November 21st: Long Run

The full marathon group is doing 19 miles, the half marathon group is doing 9 miles.

The full marathon group will head north for 2 miles. Then turnaround and run south to the San Sebastian Trailhead. Turn around again and run back to Panera’s to complete your 19 miles. (Note: All full marathon groups will start at 5:00am and finish when they finish–there will be no seminar this week.)

Half marathoners head south and turn around at the Neighborhood Alliance Church (4.5 miles). Run/walk back to Panera’s to complete your 9 miles.

Wednesday, September 30th: Fleet Feet Pub Run 7:05pm

This year, we selected IMPOWER as our charity recipient for the Power of Running for Good. They are a local, non-profit organization here in Orlando that works with supporting the mental health and well-being of children and are dedicated to the mission of protecting, counseling, teaching, and inspiring individuals and families to reach their full potential.

The rules are 60 minutes. 1 Goal. Log the most miles together. We will be inviting as many runners as possible to come out for an hour of running and each runner will log their mileage for that hour as a group. All runners and paces are welcome to bring everyone together for a great cause.

Of course there are prizes! Brooks will be bringing some super cool awards at the event to award the runner with the most miles logged in 1 hour, the runner with the most creative running outfit, an award to the runner of the stores choice!
We will also be having some really awesome giveaways from local businesses here in Orlando including: Jason’s Deli, Sugar Divas Cakery, 2 Active Release Therapy sessions, A Sports Bra fitting, Gift Cards to Phenix Salon Studios, and more! Every participant will earn a raffle ticket, but can also purchase an additional raffle ticket for $1, and all proceeds with go directly to IMPOWER.
